Globe Midwest/Adjusters International was proud to support Stuart Dorf, JD, Executive Vice President of Globe Midwest/AI, as he joined the Michigan delegation of the National Brain Tumor Society's signature advocacy event "Head to the Hill," which was held on May 9th, 2023. Stuart and the Michigan team met with Representative Haley Stevens as well as the offices of Senator Gary Peters, Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Representative Rashida Tlaib.

The advocacy's asks on behalf of the National Brain Tumor Society to Congress were:

  1. To provide $51 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and $9.988 billion for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for Fiscal Year 2024.
  2. To appropriate $150 million for the Peer-Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) at the Department of Defense (DOD) for Fiscal Year 2024 and include brain cancer and pediatric brain tumors as topics eligible for funding.
  3. To co-sponsor and pass the Stop the Wait Act (H.R. 883 / S.320). The bill would ensure brain tumor patients, and other patients with urgent financial and medical needs, get the SSDI and Medicare benefits they have earned.

Stuart was honored to share this experience with his two sons, Alec (17) and Zachary (9), who also actively participated in asking for additional funding for brain tumor research. This cause is near and dear to the Dorf family as Stuart lost his wife, Lisa, to cancer in September 2020.
